MIDTOWN—75 Rockerfeller Plaza will undergo a major Kohn Pedersen Fox-led redesign. World Architecture News reports that the landmarked building “will be rebuilt to a nearly new condition and a major concourse will be introduced to connect 51st and 52nd Street.” The renovation will seek LEED Gold standard and will include energy-efficient storefronts, a green roof, energy-efficient mechanicals, and thermally improved aluminum windows. The office levels will also be completely renovated. [WAN; official]

ALL OVER—So everyone knows that renting in the city is ridiculously expensive, especially this past year, but room sharing website Spare Room decided to really rub that in by compiling a list of average rents using ads on their site as data. The website concluded that the average room in the city this year cost $ 1,208 per month. Manhattan reigned as the priciest borough with a room commanding an average of $ 1,308 per month, followed by Brooklyn’s $ 1,104, Queens’ $ 857, the Bronx’s $ 741, and Staten Island’s $ 684. The most expensive neighborhoods to rent in were the Garment District followed by Chelsea. [Spare Room]
