Most readers guessed it was listed between $ 10 million and $ 12 million
On this week’s PriceSpotter, Curbed had readers guess the asking price of a French-style manor in Southampton’s south-of-the-highway estate section. The home—located at 70 Great Plains Road—is listed for $ 12.9 million under Sotheby’s International Realty agent Harald Grant.
Most of our readers—about 34 percent—guessed that the home was asking just a little bit less, voting for the category of between $ 10 million and $ 12 million. Not far behind that, 32 percent of our readers guessed in the correct category of between $ 12 million and $ 14 million.
We received less than 10 votes in all the other price categories.
Built in 2007 and described in the listing as a “French country traditional” style home, the estate has 8,880 square feet of living space on nearly two acres of land. There are seven bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and two half bathrooms, as well as an imported antique front door, marble foyer, a bar with two wine coolers, and vaulted wood-beamed ceilings in the master suite.
Outside, one will find high hedging for privacy, a heated gunite pool, bluestone patios, a three-car garage, and a pool house with a custom bar.
The home currently belongs to Joe Abruzzese, who was the longest-serving television ad sales executive, serving a total of 46 years at Discovery Communications. He announced his retirement in the summer of 2016.
